Don’t Change The Word

Date: December 26, 2008

Read: Revelation 22:18-21

There is a severe warning in the final verses of the Bible: We are not to change or add anything to the Word of God. If any man attempts to do so, then God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book. If someone takes away from the Bible, then his name will be taken out of the book of life.

After the warning comes again the statement “Surely I come quickly.” Yes, Jesus is coming soon and gives each of us the opportunity to get ready. Can you truly say with the writer of Revelation “Even so, come, Lord Jesus”?

The Word of God is true and his grace is extended to all of us as we await the glorious day when we can experience all the promises in this last chapter of the Bible. May God help us to read and meditate each day!

Jesus Is Coming Soon

Date: December 25, 2008

Read: Revelation 22:6-17

“Behold, I come quickly.” These are the words of Jesus Christ in this final chapter. John was so impacted by these words that he fell at the feet of the angel to worship and was quickly reminded that he was to worship God only.

Jesus also declares that He is the beginning and the end, the first and the last. There is a blessing for those who “keep the sayings of the prophecies of this book “and also those who “do his commandments”. We should take very seriously the list of those that will not enter through the gates into the city. The list embraces all those who have rejected Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour.

Again, the invitation is given to “Come.” “Whosoever will…” is invited to accept the water of life freely. Think about these words and apply them to yourself and to your loved ones and friends. He is coming and we need to be ready

The Tree Of Life

Date: December 24, 2008

Read: Revelation 22:1-5

In Genesis 2:9 we see the first mention of the tree of life in the garden of Eden. However, sin entered into the picture and Adam and Eve were sent out of the garden and an angel with a flaming sword was placed before the way to the tree of life.

In the last book of the Bible we again see the tree of life in heaven as the redeemed of the Lord are there rejoicing and enjoying everlasting life. Verse three is very specific about what they are doing: “and his servants shall serve him.” They are serving God as they worship the One who made it all possible.

Are you serving God now? If you know the Lord, you have been given the privilege of eternal life in heaven and you will see the tree of life. All the promises are for you so why not do something in the service of God today? He is worthy of our praise and of our loyal service.

The New Jerusalem

Date: December 23, 2008

Read: Revelation 21

No more death, no more tears, no more crying, no more sorrow, no more pain, and God makes everything new! What a wonderful time and place! Sin will be destroyed! God will remove all evil! All of those in this new creation have already chosen Christ freely. Heaven and earth are beginning all over again.

As God continues to give John a vision of the new Jerusalem, we see we will worship the Lord God and the Lamb who are themselves the city’s temple. God is with His people. God’s presence means He is the One who gives and radiates light. The gates of the city are always open to those whose names are in the Lamb’s book of life. The river of life flows from the throne of God. God will live among us and we will have face to face communion with Him. We will live and rule eternally with the One who loves us and makes us holy.

Have you trusted Christ as your Savior so you may live in the new heaven and earth? Do you and I realize that this earth on which we live is not all there is? In the midst of pain and suffering, we can know there will be a new heaven and a new earth. One day we will be with the Lord who loved us and gave Himself for us. Are you ready?

The Bottomless Pit

Date: December 22, 2008

Read: Revelation 20

Satan is chained up in the bottomless pit for 1,000 years and will not be able to deceive the nations any longer. Then he is released once again for the final destruction of all evil where God will consume Satan and all his evil forces into a Lake of Fire to meet his final destruction, never to be a threat to anyone again.

Then judgment, where the Books are opened and in them are recorded all we have done good and evil. The Book of Life has recorded all those who put their faith in Jesus Christ. We will all be exposed for who and what we truly are in this life. Judging others is not our job so none of us should waste one minute of our lives trying to find out about anyone else. Our only concern should be where we personally are spiritually and how we can encourage others closer to our Heavenly Father.

Nothing else should matter, if it does then pray with a repentant heart and move forward in your own life with your walk being more about the Heavenly Kingdom!
