Quiet Time

Be Patient

Date: November 17, 2008

Read: James 5:1-7

Are you sometimes impatient as you look around and see what appears to be injustice in this world? Well, David had the same problem in his day as he says in Psalm 73:3…”I was envious at the foolish when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.” We see all the foolish things that many depend upon for happiness and false security such as riches, pleasure, success, fraud, etc. However, the scripture is very clear about the end result of all the things that man can do without Jesus Christ in his or her life.

We are told to be patient because the Lord will see that justice is done. David found the same peace in his heart regarding this matter when he went into the house of God. It was there that God spoke to him so that he understood what the end result would be. (Ps.73:17)

Jesus also taught this truth in his parable about the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16. We can’t right all the wrongs in this world and we can’t force people to change their ways but we can be patient and pray for them. It is a comforting thought to know that God is in control and we don’t have to worry about the end result.
