Quiet Time
Chosen for the Position
Date: September 29, 2008
Read: Hebrews 5:1–8
Have you ever looked at someone and at their job or their position and said, “They must have it so good.” It is easy to look at others and be envious. But from the outside one doesn’t really know what sacrifices that person has made to get to where they are or all the responsibilities and struggles that they face in their position. In the type of world that we live in people are always trying to get to the top. But the Scriptures say that not even Christ sought His position. He was chosen by God.
It is easy to think that Christ never had any problems because He was sinless but look at verse 7. He wept with pain and sorrow and faced all kinds of tribulation and He bore it. So the next time you look at someone’s job, mate, leadership role in church, finances, etc., don’t be envious or discontent because you really have no idea what they have to deal with because your not in their shoes.
